Handwritten letter on watermarked cream-colored paper. Dated "Friday" and addressed from "28 W. 26." From O. Henry to Gilman Hall. Addressed to "Bill." O. Henry asks for a $10 loan until tomorrow, mentions how "we" enjoyed his visit (perhaps he and his wife, Sara Coleman), and talks about how broke he is. O. Henry also claims he has a story for Hall that will "wipe out a good many hard feelings and most of a deficit." Signed "Sidney Porter." Postscript mentions how O. Henry is feeling bad, but that it's "temporaneous."
