Adrienne Dawes recounts her childhood and adulthood in Austin, Texas in the 1980s through the present, primarily in the Cherrywood and Mueller neighborhoods. She talks about how those areas and Austin as a whole are being developed and gentrified. She discusses what it is like to be mixed-race, in terms of how others perceive her and other mixed-race people. She also relates her unique upbringing as an adopted child with many adopted and foster siblings, all of whom have special needs.
