Anita McGill recounts her childhood years (1970s-80s) living in Del Valle, a suburb of Austin, Texas, and her teenage and adulthood years living in Austin. She discusses her educational opportunities with the Upward Bound Program at Huston-Tillotson University, her educational activism as an adult, racial and socioeconomic discrimination she has seen and experienced, Austin's growth and gentrification, and law enforcement's negative treatment of minorities, including her family.
