Perry Bedford recalls his life growing up in south Austin, Texas, around William Cannon Drive and West Gate Boulevard. He discusses his grade school years and how it was growing up African American in a predominately white neighborhood and schools. He also tells of his own and family members' negative encounters with law enforcement, the positive and negative effects of gentrification, rising property taxes, and demographic changes in Austin.
