|Description||Dark stained ornate desk with two small upper shelves, lower shelf, three bevelled mirrors and two drawers on each side of desk. Drawers have ornate metal pulls. Top front of desk has hinged panel with a dark yellow velvet inlay that lifts for storage.|
|Provenance||According to the accession records, the desk originally belonged to Adolphus Sterne. Adolphus Sterne, according to the Texas State Historical Association website (http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fst45), was a "colonist, financier of the Texas Revolution, merchant, and legislator." He had a long-standing friendship with Sam Houston. The desk was passed down to Sterne's daughter, Rosine Ryan, who passed down the desk to her niece, Lollie Cave Wilson, a friend of William Sydney Porter.|
