Object Name Dish, Vegetable
Object ID 1972.01.02a
Collection O. Henry Museum Collection
Description Covered vegetable dish. China, hand painted with pink roses on both sides. Oval shape. Handles at "longest end" with hand painted pink rose at each handle. Handles, rim and pedestal rim edged in gilt gold. Maker's insignia on bottom: "Pope Gosser"/"China." Emblem of a unicorn.
Provenance An early accession record states that covered vegetable dish (1972.01.02a & 1972.01.02b) belonged to O. Henry, but there is no other documentation available to substantiate that claim. The cup and saucer were donated by his niece, Ethel Hofer, so the provenance may very well be valid.
