Object Name Plate, Decorative
Object ID 1972.01.03.04
Collection O. Henry Museum Collection
Description Pale peach border that fades to white and gilded edge. Ornate design in low relief around perimeter within pale peach border. Depicts two cherubs on a cloud looking downward. The cherub on the right has a bow in its right hand and an arrow in its left hand. Between the two cherubs is a cluster of arrows. The arrows are blue and yellow.
Provenance An early accession record states that the decorative plates (1972.01.03.01-1972.01.03.05) belonged to O. Henry, but there is no other documentation available to substantiate that claim. The cup and saucer were donated by his niece, Ethel Hofer, so the provenance may very well be valid.
