Object Name Bowl, Sugar
Object ID 1972.01.04a
Collection O. Henry Museum Collection
Description White porcelain sugar bowl decorated with pink and blue flower motif. Raised flower with gilted edges on the top of the two handles. Floral motif in low relief, unpainted, on front and back sides of bowl. On outside of base: stamp of an eagle and "C.T. Germany." Also on base, under the glaze: "Valet 1" and "10071 / 68."
Provenance An early accession record states that the sugar bowl (1972.01.04a & 1972.01.04b) belonged to O. Henry, but there is no other documentation available to substantiate that claim. The cup and saucer were donated by his niece, Ethel Hofer, so the provenance may very well be valid.
